Contest Announced for
"Redneck"
Articles
Chicago -- Previously-published
newspaper
articles are being sought for publication in a new book entitled News
From Redneckville -- an innovative project designed to celebrate
the
redneck culture and inject more fun into everyday life.
Articles should embody the character
of
rednecks and provide other rednecks with a sense of kinship and
connection.
They should also be funny. Articles might include simple items that
have
made rednecks popular, such as trucks, big hair, tooth problems, duct
tape,
wildlife, dogs, drive-in liquor stores, etc. Rednecks using new
artistic
forms are especially appreciated.
Some examples include, but are
definitely
not limited to: weddings in odd locations, the day Cloyd was shot in a
accident involving his dog, the farmer that spray painted the word
"cow"
on the side of his cattle so they wouldn't get shot during deer-hunting
season, legal mishaps such as actions of nudity where the assailant was
caught hiding under a trailer, or guys in the local tavern sharing
their
thoughts.
Rednecks are not just outdoor workers
with
sunburnt necks any more, they are a huge portion of this great country
who have decided to stand up for the true character they posses. More
and
more people are appreciating the true rednecks of this country.
Those who submit an article chosen
for
publication will receive due credit within the book and a free first
edition
of News From Redneckville.
All submissions must be true,
real-life
newspaper articles or tidbits. These are non-fiction articles that are
not meant to be funny, but really are! Submissions must include: the
article,
newspaper name, city and state in which the article appeared, author of
article, date the article appeared. Don't forget to include your
contact
information, including mailing address, e-mail address and phone number.
